Description

Thirty eight years after its original recording, the legendary “lost” LP from Seattle garage gods The Nights And Days is finally poking through the crumbled ether, set to explode eardrums and hypnotize the unconverted upon impact. Lead by the inimitable Rob Vasquez, a true marble pillar of the Seattle underground since his days in The Enemy and The Look in the ‘70s, and a beacon of the “Shit-O-Fonic” sound he perfected in the ‘80s/‘90s as an antidote to the grunge virus. Along with cohorts Brendan Shriane, Matt Jones, and Jarett O’Bryan, The Nights and Days were far ahead of their time, despite being rudimentarily stuck in a primitive sound nastily echoing their favorite ‘60s-style trash, with an updated jolt of invigoration for the new generation. Sure, there were loads of garage revival bands traversing the land in the mid ‘80s, but these guys really turned up the grit factor beyond all means, creating an almost menacing spewage of raw guitar trash that burned out faster that most, hence their short lifespan and lasting reverence. But not before releasing a handful of now-classic 7” singles & EPs and appearing on the prestigious Sub Pop 200 compilation in 1988. It all fell apart soon after, and this long-revered recording was the hopeful debut LP that never came to fruition despite having Jack Endino at the helm, as well as all the snarling momentum those fireball 7” records contained.

As they lost Brendan and Matt at that point, Rob V. and Jarett morphed into the brain-frying Night Kings a short while later, and they released their classic debut LP on Steve Turner’s Super Electro label, which propelled them into the consciousness of far more people outside of the Pacific Northwest, for which we are forever grateful. Its still hard to believe The Nights And Days debut LP is finally unleashed after hearing stories about its “possible existence” for 30+ years, and to get to bestow it upon your rackety skulls at this crucial time in history is truly an honor we’ll never forget.
